University of Maryland: By this time in the day, the lines were about an hour long to get in to the houses.
The roof on this house is curved, "acting as a metaphor for the path of the sun across the sky". It's a design decision that actually decreases the efficiency of the solar panels.
Part of the house is up on stilts, as if floating on water. For the competition display, gravel took the place of water.
Apparently, this house won the "people's choice" award. It wouldn't have been my first choice.

These are Loewen doors. They are beautiful doors and they glide open very smoothly.
